4th Annual 20mph Places Conference – Call for Abstracts

Deadline: 22nd February 2013

This conference recognises that slower speeds contribute to a sense of “Place”. More than just a space, they are great places to live, work or play, characterised by vibrant communities who respect each other’s rights to get around safely. In addition some areas are finding wider benefits not only in terms of crash reduction but also as part of strategies to improve public health.

Although more UK locations are giving strong consideration to reduce speed limits, particularly in residential roads, there are a few hindrances that need to be addressed. The need for funding and strong political leadership backing is essential to the implementation of slower speed initiatives. What is the way forward to progression and where is the strong supporting evidence or case studies? Do you believe the current implementations of slower speeds initiatives have been effective?

If you are a local politician with remit for transport and safety, transport planner, urban street designer, traffic and road safety engineer, or community campaigner, PTRC encourages you to submit an abstract surrounding theses issues to present at the 4th Annual 20mph Places Conference on 23rd May 2013 in Coventry.
