Introducing Zeenara Najam

I am PTRC’s new Head of Technical Development. I imagine my background sounds rather like many of yours. I’m an experienced transport planner, with a master's degree in Transport Planning and I’m a Registered Prince2® Practitioner. I’ve worked both in the public and private sector and been involved in various £1m + national and international transport projects.

I was formerly a Principal Transport Planner at Northamptonshire County Council. Before this I worked for Essex County Council where I was involved in transport schemes for South Essex Thames Gateway, the largest regeneration project in Europe.

My previous career includes working with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), Bangkok, on its time/cost model for the facilitation of multi-modal transport on the Asian Highway.

I believe PTRC it is the natural home for transport planning training and events. I’m hoping my UK and international transport project experience can further help PTRC to serve as a platform for transport professionals where they can get best knowledge and practice of the industry and I’m very much looking forward to working with the rest of the PTRC team, my colleagues at CILT and transport industry. If you would like to discuss how your organisation can benefit from PTRC services please contact me

That’s more than enough about me, but before I sign off, one quick plug. Do you all know that this year’s Transport Practitioners Meeting (TPM) will be on 2nd and 3rd July 2013 in Birmingham? I hope many of you are going to submit an abstract. Just to remind you, we are accepting abstracts right now. Contact Julia at
Julia.Sharp@ptrc-training.co.uk with your submission.

There’s some fantastic news for this year’s TPM; we will be happy to publish your abstract as an article in The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport’s prestigious members’ journal, Logistics & Transport Focus. If you are speaking or not, please book your diary now to attend this gala transport event, and I look forward to meeting you there. In the meantime, I hope you are not too disrupted by the snow, and see you next week.
