WCHAR (Walking, Cycling and Horse-Riding Assessment and Review)
Course Overview
The purpose a WCHAR (Walking, Cycling and Horse-Riding Assessment and Review) is to facilitate the inclusion of all walking, cycling and horse-riding modes in the highway scheme development process from the earliest stage, enabling opportunities for new or improved facilities and their integration with the local and national networks. This could include the creation and/or improvement of facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians that are separate from the highway.
WCHAR is intended to provide increased collaboration, interaction and engagement with key stakeholders. National design guidance makes integrating green infrastructure into transport projects a key priory for development schemes. A WCHAR provides useful insights to all relevant stakeholders regarding appropriate measures to bright forward more sustainable development.

This course is designed for all practitioners who are likely to be involved in the preparation or review of any existing or proposed walking, cycling and horse-riding facilities and the review of design proposals relating to those facilities.
