13th Annual Transport Practitioners' Meeting

Awards Winners


Congratulations to all award winners for their work in proposing, planning and developing schemes that improve local transport provision, enhance the built environment, or contribute to local socio-economic well-being.

The PTRC Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Stephen Glaister, Emeritus Professor of Transport and Infrastructure at Imperial College London for his contribution to the transport planning profession. The PTRC award for Best Paper at TPM Demonstrating Sustainable Transport Solutions was given to Patrick Lingwood of Bedford Borough Council for his paper Bedford turbo-style roundabout – a new cycle and pedestrian-friendly design.

The 2015 Transport Planner of the Year Award, sponsored by the Transport Planning Society, was presented to Lucy Saunders of Transport of London whilst the TPS award for Best Paper at the Conference by a Young Practitioner was presented to James Rhodes of JMP Consultants for his paper An investigation of the relationship between transport and health whilst examining the importance of local people to transport planning procedures.

The Brian Large Bursary Fund Voorhees-Large Prize was awarded to Tom Horrell of Balfour Beatty Living Places for his  dissertation What are the effects of a ‘shared space’ scheme on different users? submitted for his Masters in Transport at University College London (UCL) and Imperial College London.

The Urban Movement-sponsored Urban Transport Design Award was presented to the London Borough of Hackney for their Leonard Circus scheme in Shoreditch whilst the London Borough of Bexley and the London Borough of Lambeth were both highly commended for the respective Bexleyheath Town Centre Revitalisation scheme and Clapham Old Town scheme.
