Call for The 2013 Urban Transport Design Award

First awarded in 2005, TPM’s Urban Transport Design Award is for highways, traffic and transport schemes that do much more than just facilitate movement, and for urban realm schemes that do much more than look good.  Winning schemes will have a core transport function but also achieve the broader objectives of urban design (see By Design, DETR/CABE, 2000).

Candidate schemes should contribute to the improvement of the built urban environment and benefit a range of users. They should not just solve a problem for a specific user group or be essentially environmental improvements with little direct transport purpose.

The award is usually made in each of two categories – ‘large’ and ‘small’ – and nominated schemes should ideally have been in full operation for at least a year by May 2013. Short-listed schemes will be interesting, innovative, effective and attractive.

All nominations for the 2013 Urban Transport Design Award should be sent to  John Dales Urban Movement or Zeenara Najam at PTRC by Friday 17th May 2013. For more details, please click here or go to events page.
