Description: This course provides an introduction into the area of accessibility and public transport integration. Drawing on a range of case studies and approaches, this course examines the latest access and inclusion agenda as it relates to public transport and interchange, the role of the community transport and taxi sector, station travel planning and multimodal access to rail, as well as BRT and more conventional bus and rail integration. The key role of active travel to stimulate greater use of public transport and the types of interchange and ‘last mile’ improvements needed to encourage this will also be covered.
The course has been developed for professionals involved in any aspect of access and integration wishing to develop their knowledge and competence; ranging from local authority and integrated transport authority transport planners, bus and train operating companies, consultants, and property and development management professionals through to those involved in travel promotion, access projects, behavioural change, public health and wellbeing. community engagement and community transport. The course will also give helpful background technical knowledge to diversity and inclusion specialists within a Human Resources environment.
