Details

PTRC has been at the forefront of the dissemination of Stated Preference (SP) technique as a powerful tool to help transport research since the mid 1960s. Each year international researchers have presented their results at PTRC's European Transport Conference advancing the state of the art and providing peer group review of results and approaches. An annual training course delivered by internaitonal experts has helped the take up and understanding of these techniques.

This book, the fourth in the PTRC perspectives series provides a comprehensive introduction to these methods and is illustrated by case studies and applications drawn from a wide range of situations. It brings together, in one handy source, the edited seminal papers from over 6 years of conference presentations as well as previously unpublished course materials from the training course on Stated Preference Techniques.

The distinguished authors are drawn from a wide spectrum of key players in the transport world. Their papers are based on practical first hand experience.

The Editor, Professor Juan de Dios Ortuzar has been professor of Transport Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile since 1972 and is well know in international circles for his unparalleled contribution to transport research. He is a Member of PTRC's Transport Planning Methods Programme Committee and the Course Leader of the annual international course on Transport Modelling.
