The course will present information from the perspectives of both data users and data suppliers giving a balanced overview of this often overlooked, but vitally important element of the transport planning process. The seminar sessions will be led and presented by experienced practitioners in the feld of data collection and the course will be delivered using presentations, illustrated ‘real life’ examples, hands- on exercises, group discussions and question and answer sessions. Data collection equipment will be on display throughout the course.
Who Should Attend?
Project managers: critical to understand what can and can’t be collected, within what timescales, at what costs and with how much accuracy.
Transport planners who need to commission or organise data collection projects: same reasons as for project managers, and also to understand what is appropriate for what purpose, the detailed issues of data analysis and practical constraints.
Traffic surveyors new to the sector who need an understanding of the range of techniques available, their pro’s and con’s and which data and technique is appropriate for what project.
Two for one offer for local authorities
